The termination of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) between the EU and the Republic of Cameroon on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber and timber products to the European Union (FLEGT)
The dossier concerns terminating the EU-Cameroon Voluntary Partnership Agreement on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber (FLEGT). The amendments address deforestation and illegal logging in Cameroon, the non-operational FLEGT licensing scheme and timber legality assurance system, corruption and weak forest governance, the shift of timber exports to Asian markets such as China and Viet Nam, the EU Deforestation Regulation and possible forest partnerships, and parliamentary oversight.
