## What the amendments focus on

This dossier concerns the regulation on European statistics. The amendments consolidate the European Statistical System as a partnership between Eurostat and National Statistical Institutes, define principles such as professional independence, impartiality and statistical confidentiality, prohibit using confidential data for administrative, legal or tax purposes, set up the European Statistics Code of Practice, the ESS Committee, the European Statistical Programme and the European Approach to Statistics, and minimise response burdens.
