## What the amendments focus on

Proposed regulation on medium-term financial assistance for Member States' balances of payment. The amendments call for the European Parliament, Council, Commission and Member States to act speedily in exceptional situations so that market confidence is not undermined, and replace a provision requiring the Council to examine the regulation every two years on the basis of a Commission report after consulting the European Parliament and the Economic and Financial Committee.
