## What the amendments focus on

This dossier establishes a procedure for negotiating agreements between Member States and third countries on jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters, parental responsibility and maintenance obligations. The amendments define bilateral and closed regional agreements, set out notification by Member States to the Commission, its assessment, authorisation and rejection where a Community interest or agreement exists, deadlines for reasoned decisions, denunciation clauses, confidentiality, and information to the European Parliament.
