## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative dossier concerns a European initiative for the development of micro-credit in support of growth and employment. The amendments discuss the definition of microcredit (a loan of EUR 25 000 or less), the range of providers including micro-finance institutions (MFIs) and credit unions, and an EU framework for providers with authorisation, registration and supervision. They address the financial crisis and disadvantaged groups such as women, immigrants and the Roma.
