## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on the Common Fisheries Policy and the ecosystem approach to fisheries management. Amendments stress the interconnectedness of ecosystems, overfishing and depleted fish stocks, the 2002 Johannesburg Summit target of maximum sustainable catches, total allowable catches and quotas, control of fishing effort, by-catches and selective fishing gear, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, aquaculture research, the outermost regions, and decentralisation of the CFP.
