## What the amendments focus on

The amendments treat patient safety as a public health and economic burden, the information of patients, collection of comparable data at Community level, national strategies and targets, infection control link staff and hand hygiene, protection of healthcare workers, reporting outbreaks to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and counterfeit drugs and needlestick injuries.
