## What the amendments focus on

This dossier concerns the establishment of the European Banking Authority (EBA). The amendments define the Authority's powers where a competent authority breaches Union law, set out investigation on request of the Commission, European Parliament, Council or Banking Stakeholder Group, time limits and the Commission's formal opinion, and the Authority's role in emergency situations affecting financial markets; they also address the autonomous budget and discharge.
