## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report concerns the European Ombudsman's annual report for 2008. The amendments approve the report and address the presentation of statistical data, the definition and broad interpretation of maladministration, the revision of the Ombudsman's Statute and strengthened powers of investigation, information campaigns to raise citizens' awareness and reduce inadmissible complaints, and the European Network of Ombudsmen.
