# Priorities and outline of a new EU policy framework to fight violence against women

## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report sets priorities for a new EU policy framework to fight violence against women. The amendments cite UN human-rights instruments, Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820, and the Commission's gender-equality strategy; they define gender-based violence as predominantly inflicted by men on women and girls, address domestic violence and child witnesses, female genital mutilation, health consequences for victims, under-reporting, and links between economic stress and increased abuse.
