# Absorption of Structural and Cohesion Funds: lessons learnt for the future cohesion policy of the EU

## What the amendments focus on

The own-initiative report draws lessons from the absorption of Structural and Cohesion Funds for future cohesion policy. The amendments address obstacles to fund absorption and call for simplified, flexible rules and a contribution by the European Social Fund, ERDF and Cohesion Fund to the Europe 2020 Strategy in employment and social inclusion; they stress reducing regional disparities, involving social partners, multi-level governance, and gender mainstreaming.
