# Use of passenger name record (PNR) data for the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of terrorist offences and serious crime

## What the amendments focus on

Proposed directive on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data against terrorist offences and serious crime. Amendments call to reject the Commission proposal, cite the European Data Protection Supervisor and the Article 29 Working Party on necessity and proportionality, define a Passenger Information Unit in each Member State to collect PNR data from air carriers, set retention and data exchange, and prohibit decisions based on race or ethnic origin.
