## What the amendments focus on

Proposal establishing the 'Europe for Citizens' programme for 2014-2020. The amendments revise the financial reference amount and recitals on citizens' participation in the Union's democratic life, the European Citizens' Initiative, fundamental freedoms and the Charter of Fundamental Rights, remembrance of totalitarian regimes and defining moments in European history, synergies with other Union programmes, multilingualism, and the role of civil society organisations and municipalities in transnational projects.
