# Insurance guarantee schemes

## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on insurance guarantee schemes. The amendments address insurance guarantee schemes (IGS) as protection for policyholders and beneficiaries when an insurer fails, their distinction from deposit guarantee and investor compensation schemes, the Solvency II framework, a call for a minimum harmonisation directive for a cross-border IGS framework, the 'home' country principle, ex-ante versus ex-post funding and subsidiarity, and compensation versus continuity of contracts.
