## What the amendments focus on

Amendments address auditor independence, appointment by the audit committee rather than the board, the public-interest function of statutory auditing, the scope and brevity of audit reports, auditors alerting supervisors to problems threatening an entity, professional scepticism, and the introduction of International Standards on Auditing.
