# Future of regional airports and air services in the EU

## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on the future of regional airports and air services in the EU. The amendments note the lack of an agreed definition of 'regional airport', frame regional aviation as a key enabler of mobility, connectivity and cohesion for remote regions and islands, weigh high-speed rail as an alternative with lower energy use and CO2 emissions, and raise concerns over airline monopolies and declining airport retail sales.
