## What the amendments focus on

This proposal manages the long-term plan for cod stocks and the fisheries exploiting them. Amendments would standardise Member States' methodologies for calculating fishing effort, promote selective gear and measures to minimise and eliminate cod discards with support from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, set TAC rules based on scientific advice, exempt experimental selectivity trials, and adjust exclusions from the fishing-effort regime.
