## What the amendments focus on

This dossier concerns the quality of environmental impact assessment of public and private projects. The amendments would amend the existing Directive to strengthen and streamline the assessment procedure, address cross-border effects, public consultation and participation, scoping, reasonable alternatives and a baseline scenario, set time-frames, treat civil emergencies and visual impact and cultural heritage, and cover exploration and extraction of conventional and non-conventional hydrocarbons including hydraulic fracturing.
