## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on the EU strategy for the protection and welfare of animals 2012-2015. The amendments invoke the animal-welfare principle in Article 13 of the Treaty, call for a European Animal Welfare Framework Law based on validated science covering all animals including fish, urge new policy instruments for dairy cattle, farmed fish and live animal transport, and seek revision of Regulation 1/2005 with an 8-hour transport limit.
