## What the amendments focus on

Own-initiative report on asbestos-related occupational health threats and prospects for abolishing all existing asbestos. The amendments revise recitals on the carcinogenicity of asbestos including chrysotile, the absence of a safe exposure threshold, asbestos remaining in ships, trains and buildings, landfills versus inertisation, and the exposure of workers, and paragraphs calling for obligatory screening, registration, audits, action plans and the safe removal of asbestos-containing materials.
