# Role of EU cohesion policy and their actors in implementing the new European energy policy

## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on the role of EU cohesion policy and its actors in implementing the new European energy policy. The amendments link cohesion policy to the Europe 2020 objectives, call for simpler rules and greater administrative capacity at regional and local level, and stress using the Structural Funds and Cohesion Fund for smart grids, transmission and storage infrastructure, energy efficiency and renewable energy, including ex-ante conditionality and ERDF ring-fencing.
