# Gendercide: the missing women?

## What the amendments focus on

This dossier addresses gendercide and the question of the missing women. The amendments debate the definitions of 'gendercide' and 'femicide', cite the Beijing Platform for Action and the Cairo ICPD, and describe prenatal sex selection, sex-selective abortion, infanticide, honour crimes and other violence against women, estimates of women demographically 'missing' worldwide, and the role of son preference, stereotypes and discrimination, including training for medical staff.
