## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report concerns innovating for sustainable growth through a bioeconomy for Europe. The amendments rework provisions on the sustainable use of biomass and biofuels, sustainability criteria and a possible biomass hierarchy, the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem services, food security and the risk of deforestation in developing countries, and the bioeconomy's potential for research and decent jobs, with references to the Renewable Energy Directive and Horizon 2020.
