## What the amendments focus on

This codecision dossier concerns maritime spatial planning. The amendments extend the framework to integrated coastal management strategies, apply an ecosystem-based and precautionary approach, address competing uses such as renewable energy, shipping, fishing, tourism and aquaculture, require stakeholder and public consultation, base plans on best available scientific knowledge, respect Member States' competences and subsidiarity, and align with the Integrated Maritime Policy and UNCLOS.
