# Reforming the structure of the EU banking sector

## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report addresses reforming the structure of the EU banking sector. Amendments recall the 2008 financial crisis, state aid and bank bailouts, implicit state guarantees and excessive risk-taking, leverage and complexity; they discuss the ECB's proposal for criteria to separate high-risk activities, ringfencing, the Volcker Rules and Vickers Commission, and assessing systemic risk of retail and investment entities.
