## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report concerns family businesses in Europe. Amendments cite figures on family businesses' share of European companies and jobs, debate establishing a common EU definition of "family business" and the role of company size, and address their long-term orientation, the "honourable merchant" tradition, SMEs and the "think small first" principle, business succession and inheritance taxes, entrepreneurship education, regional development and reconciliation of family and work life.
