# EU's new approach to human rights and democracy – evaluating the activities of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) since its establishment

## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report evaluating the EU's approach to human rights and democracy and the activities of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) since its establishment. The amendments welcome the EED's bottom-up, demand-driven democracy support in the EU's neighbourhood, note shrinking civil-society space and restrictive funding laws, call for publishing its evaluations, stress complementarity with instruments such as the EIDHR, and list Member States that have pledged and contributed to it.
