## What the amendments focus on

Proposal on control of the acquisition and possession of weapons, amending Directive 91/477/EEC. Amendments dispute links between recent terrorist attacks and lawful use by hunters, sportsmen and collectors, address deactivation, marking, convertibility and the definition of firearm and essential components, regulate dealers and ammunition, and treat category A firearms; several reject the Commission proposal.
