## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on the situation in the Mediterranean and the need for a holistic EU approach to migration. Amendments call for coherence between internal and external policies in respect of human rights and the right to asylum, while addressing root causes such as poverty, instability and wars; several blame foreign military interventions and NATO/EU involvement, others stress security and the construction of walls at the EU's external borders.
