## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report concerns a new forward-looking strategy on trade and investment. Amendments frame trade policy as an instrument of economic diplomacy serving values such as democracy, the rule of law and human rights, the environment and social rights; they discuss the GSP, GSP+ and Everything But Arms systems, fair trade, human rights clauses in agreements, anti-terrorism and security policy, arms and dual-use exports, and binding sustainable development chapters.
