# Initiative on resource efficiency: reducing food waste, improving food safety

## What the amendments focus on

An own-initiative report on resource efficiency, reducing food waste and improving food safety. The amendments revise recitals around estimates of food lost or wasted, its carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, the Sustainable Development Goal 12.3 target of halving per capita food waste, the lack of a common definition and methodology, and the sectors contributing most to food waste.
