## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report concerns media pluralism and media freedom in the European Union. Amendments frame access to free and independent information as a fundamental right under the Charter of Fundamental Rights, warn that concentration of media ownership and the collapse of press financing threaten pluralism, address the 'fake news' phenomenon, disinformation and foreign interference, and call for independent public service media and modernised competition policy against dominant players.
