## What the amendments focus on

Proposal on the security of identity cards of Union citizens and of residence documents issued to them and their family members. Amendments address the inclusion and storage of biometric data such as facial images and fingerprints, the rejection of centralised or national databases, security features against fraud and forgery, the rights of children and persons with disabilities, document fraud detection, ICAO specifications, and data protection under Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
