## What the amendments focus on

A draft directive on the protection of persons reporting on breaches of Union law. The amendments revise recitals on whistleblower protection from retaliation, reporting channels (internal and external to competent authorities, with anonymity and confidentiality), the categories of persons covered (workers, volunteers, unpaid trainees, third-country nationals), follow-up and feedback obligations, protection of journalistic sources and personal data, and the reasonable-belief safeguard against malicious reports.
