## What the amendments focus on

Regulation on the protection of personal data in the context of elections to the European Parliament. Amendments establish a verification procedure under which the Authority, following a decision of a supervisory authority or the European Data Protection Supervisor, asks a committee of independent eminent persons to assess whether a European political party or foundation took advantage of a data-protection infringement to influence European elections, with rules on independence and sanctions.
