# Exemption of certain N2 electric vehicles from the requirement to install and use a speed limitation device (Omnibus IX on automotive)

European Parliament procedure 2025/0424(COD) (COD - Ordinary legislative procedure (ex-codecision procedure), 10th term, committee TRAN). Stage: Awaiting committee decision. 12 committee amendments tabled by 9 Members between 2026-06-15 and 2026-06-15.

## What the amendments focus on

This procedure concerns exempting certain category N2 electric vehicles from the requirement to install and use a speed limitation device (Omnibus IX on automotive). The amendments broaden the exemption to a technology-neutral one covering vehicles propelled by alternative fuels whose propulsion or energy storage raises their mass above 3,5 but not beyond 4,25 tonnes, and add a Commission report by 31 December 2028 assessing the exemption's continued justification.
