## What the amendments focus on

This own-initiative report concerns the future of the EU biotechnology and biomanufacturing sector. Amendments recognise the sector as one of ten strategic technology sectors for competitiveness, economic security and sustainability, call for a more coordinated policy framework to scale up innovation, attract investment and commercialise technologies while citing lengthy authorisation procedures, and invoke the precautionary principle, bioethical oversight, the Letta report and the European Biotech Act.
