This own-initiative report concerns EU policy towards the Horn of Africa. The amendments welcome the Commission's SHARE plan (Supporting Horn of Africa Resilience) linking short-term humanitarian aid to long-term development, prioritise poverty eradication as a development-cooperation objective under the founding Treaty alongside regional security and counter-terrorism and anti-piracy efforts, and support working towards normalised diplomatic and economic relations following the election of Somalia's new president.
