Extension of the scope of Directive 2003/109/EC to beneficiaries of international protection

2007/0112(CNS)·6th term·LIBE·CNS
Summary

This dossier extends the scope of Directive 2003/109/EC to beneficiaries of international protection. The few amendments address informing other Member States of the protection background of long-term residents in line with the principle of non-refoulement, ensure that granting long-term resident status does not revoke refugees' or subsidiary protection beneficiaries' rights, and exempt beneficiaries without access to employment or the labour market from a requirement.
