Summary

This own-initiative report examines the environmental impact of the planned gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea linking Russia and Germany. Amendments discuss the Nord Stream project, energy security and diversification, a common European energy policy and solidarity, Gazprom and Russia's role, the fragility of the Baltic seabed, dumped chemical weaponry and sediments, environmental impact assessments and the Espoo Convention and Energy Charter Treaty.
