Organ donation and transplantation: policy actions at EU level

An own-initiative report on organ donation and transplantation policy at EU level. The amendments note the absence of an EU database and certification system, address organ trafficking, transplant tourism and commercialisation as forms of trafficking in human beings, welcome a Commission framework on safety and quality, and call for strict rules on living donors, a ban including organs from executed prisoners, criminal sanctions, and research into xenotransplantation.
