Summary

Own-initiative report on enhancing the role of European SMEs in international trade. Amendments call for support to SMEs' international development through financing, training, information and business support centres in third countries, note the low share of SMEs in cross-border activity, and address trade defence instruments such as anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures, intellectual property and counterfeiting, standardisation, tariff and non-tariff barriers, the WTO system and trade facilitation.
