Summary

This own-initiative report concerns the future of the European common asylum system. Amendments criticise the burden the Dublin system places on border Member States and call for a mechanism to suspend transfers and a right to appeal, address detention of asylum seekers and vulnerable persons under the Reception Conditions Directive, a single asylum procedure, Frontex, country-of-origin information, the future Support Office, resettlement and relocation, and cooperation with UNHCR and NGOs.
