Summary
Own-initiative report on a new impetus for the strategy for the sustainable development of European aquaculture. Amendments address negative impacts such as habitat destruction, chemicals and water depletion, animal welfare and the slaughter of fish, compliance of imports with EU standards and fair competition, biodiversity and the Water Framework Directive, maritime spatial planning, fish used as feed, organic aquaculture, and a framework supported by the European Fisheries Fund.
