Summary
This own-initiative report is the 2009 annual statement on the euro area and public finances. Amendments address the economic crisis, rising public deficits and debt, the Stability and Growth Pact, and the European Central Bank's monetary policy and cooperation with the Council and Eurogroup. Others raise concern over the US dollar and renminbi-yuan exchange rates, and debate wage moderation, price stability and consumers' purchasing power.
