Summary
The dossier concerns the possibility for Member States to restrict or prohibit the cultivation of GMOs in their territory. The amendments address the risk assessment and authorisation of GMOs, the precautionary principle, and the freedom of Member States, on subsidiarity grounds and for environmental or health reasons, to restrict or ban cultivation while keeping placing on the market and import regulated at Union level; some amendments reject the Commission proposal.
