Summary
Legislative dossier amending a regulation on electronic identification of bovine animals and the labelling of beef, including the voluntary beef labelling system. Amendments debate whether electronic identification based on radio frequency identification should be voluntary or mandatory, traceability and automated reading and recording, administrative burden on businesses, identifiers such as ear tags and injectable transponders, a transition period, and allowing Member States to introduce mandatory EID step by step.
