Honeybee health and the challenges for the beekeeping sector

Own-initiative report on honeybee health and the challenges facing the beekeeping sector. Amendments address the role of beekeeping in rural development and biodiversity through pollination, increased bee mortality, the Varroa destructor mite and other pests and diseases, the limited effectiveness of veterinary medicines, pesticides, residue-free honey, and the EU's dependence on honey imports.
