Procedure
Strategy for strengthening the rights of vulnerable consumers
Subjects: Consumers' protection in general
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): IRIGOYEN PÉREZ María (S&D)
Summary
An own-initiative report on a strategy for strengthening the rights of vulnerable consumers. The amendments cite the equal-treatment directive and the Charter of Fundamental Rights, frame consumer protection as core to the single market, characterise vulnerable consumers as a heterogeneous group defined by age or mental, physical or psychological factors, and note the difficulty of a single legal instrument given the diversity of vulnerable situations.
