Summary
This own-initiative report concerns volunteering and voluntary activity in Europe. The amendments describe volunteering as a facet of active citizenship, democracy and social cohesion, note bureaucratic, financial and legal barriers and disparities between Member States, and call for legal recognition, a European statute for voluntary organisations, validation of skills via tools such as the European Skills Passport, measurement of volunteer work along ILO lines, and address gender disparities in participation.
